Rust Protection That Works

Trying to protecting a nice car or a motorcycle that you drive only part of the year can be a challenge. Rust and corrosion can set in and destroy a beautiful vehicle. How do fight rust? Chemicals can be a nuisance and dangerous. Now there is a product. VCI, or Vapor Corrosive Inhibitor, is a corrosion prevention technology that can fight off metal corrosion, rust, and moisture. This product is extremely flexible and can even be manufactured directly into other products, such as an outdoor car cover or motorcycle cover.

It works though a technology called  VCI. VCI is a substance that can be manufactured into outdoor car covers and motorcycle covers. With this special material an invisible vapor is produced around the metal of your vehicle. The vapor emits a very thin layer of molecules that are attracted to the surface of metal and act as an inhibitor to fight off rust, corrosion, and moisture on the metal of your vehicle for 5 years. When your vehicle has the outdoor car cover or motorcycle cover on with VCI technology, it is safe from decay and never ages.

VCI has been tested and is very safe. The vapor that is emitted is odorless and nontoxic. The molecules that attach to metal of the vehicle are harmless as well and the technology has been approved by the FDA safe to use on kitchen and food appliances.

VCI material can be used in an outdoor car cover or motorcycle cover that protects your vehicle for up to 5 years. Vehicles are always under attack from rust, corrosion, and moisture. These elements will eventually destroy the metal surface of a car or motorcycle. With VCI technology, an outdoor car cover and motorcycle cover protect your vehicle completely from these elements.

Circumstances Change – Thinking Doesn’t

There was a little incident down in Sanford Florida, you may have heard about it. It actually wasn’t a little incident. It is the biggest, most popular, most talked about killing since the O.J. trial. A 17 year old black young man was shot and killed by another man. the shooting has divided the country, and has left us again with more questions than answers.

Since the Trayvon Martin killing many things have changed. We know things now that we did not know when the story first broke.

George Zimmerman was the neighborhood watch person. He saw a young man, who he said looked suspicious, in his neighborhood. He called police. The police were on their way to the scene. Zimmerman was following the young black man. The next thing we know for sure, is Trayvon Martin is dead from a gun shot wound to the chest.

There has been no definite information or evidence that has come out that proves who started the altercation, what happened during the altercation or what each person involved did during the altercation. No one can prove who’s voice we hear calling for help on the 911 call. No one can prove whether Zimmerman was heading back to his car, like his statement says, after giving up on the pursuit, when Trayvon appeared and punched him in the face.

We know very little about the most important part of this case – what happened right before Trayvon was shot. If we knew that information, we would be able to at least understand a little better how this happened.

No one has moved an inch on their opinion about this case. The prosecutors are as heated as ever for a conviction and jail time for Zimmerman. They believe Zimmerman is a racist, who set out to hurt or even intentionally kill Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman was the one who confronted Trayvon, and Zimmerman was the one with the gun. It’s going to be harder and harder to prove all of that in court.

The defenders, on the other hand, are certain that this was an unfortunate incident that spiraled out of control. They believe Zimmerman was concerned because of all of the recent break-ins, and he was just doing what he thought was right. He followed Trayvon, but Trayvon confronted Zimmerman, punching him in the face, knocking him down. Then, proceeded to smash his head into the pavement bloodying his head. All the details that have come out lately seem to support Zimmerman.

Trayvon Autopsy Made Public

There are some incidents or cases or trials that just transcend the imagination. The Trayvon Martin case is one of them. I’m calling it the “Trayvon” case because he is the victim. There isn’t a trial going on yet. There may never be a trial in this case. Call the information we get leaks, call it spoon-feeding the public, call it luck. The prosecution’s challenges grow harder with every new detail of fact.

The problem with the thoughts and opinions of many on this case is that they were formed, and basically set in stone, based on speculation, media hype and flat out false information. Everything we heard early on about this case made it look like a vigilante killing.

The latest piece of information to come out on this case is the autopsy results.

The autopsy shows that Trayvon Martin was killed by the shot from George Martin’s gun. The bullet entered his upper chest and passed through his lung. This really is no new news. The autopsy did show a small abrasion on Trayvon’s left ring finger. this would corroborate Zimmerman’s statement that Trayvon punch him, knocking him down.

Zimmerman’s injury details just came out as well. They show that he had a broken nose, two black eyes and two gashes on the back of his head. This evidence would also back up Zimmerman’s side of the story. Its pretty obvious that Zimmerman was struck multiple times. Why did Trayvon fight so viciously? Did George Zimmerman pull out his gun earlier than originally thought? Who confronted who first?

There are many unanswered questions surrounding this case. Some questions may never get answered.

Car Repair Options Change with the Economy

You can go most any where and get your car worked on. There are dealer shops, mom and pop shops and all kinds of service stations in between. One of the areas that has changed is in the smaller, muti-location oil change service stations. Because of the economic downswing, these shops have had to diversify to stay alive. Once a thriving business, the oil change industry is now as competitive as ever.

There was a time when oil change shops thrived. They were like the car washes of the oil change business. The theory was simple. You could take your car in for an oil change, and in minutes, you were done. No long lines, no waiting for an hour, no hassles. Some chains were even able to get away with charging a little more just for the convenience.

Over a period of time, more and more of these quick oil change service stations sprang up. Some were chains, some were one location shops. These shops competed against each other, driving the price of the oil change service down.

The other thing that this new competition created, was a need for multiple services at these oil stations. It wasn’t enough anymore that these places provided just quick oil changes. You could go to any service station, have your car worked on, and they would change your oil as well. These oil change locations had to come up with ways to provide multiple services for their customers, or they were going to lose them.

What they came up with, is to add all of the basic services that a car owner needs. Things like battery testing and changes, belt replacement, windshield wipers, system flush, tire rotation, coolant and transmission fluid replacement were now on the menu at most of these places. Many of these locations will now offer a discount oil change, when other services are purchased. The oil change locations that did not make the move, simply faded away. Those that did, at least had a fighting chance.

In a service industry, you have to service your customers. Sometimes that means adding additional services to make it worth while for the customer to do business with you.

Protecting Your Valuables From Rust

Rust can ruin everything, your car, your tools and even jewelry. Once rust sets in, it’s already won the battle. It’s almost impossible to get rid of. Just like a cancer in the human body, the only way to get rid of it is to take part of your valuable with it. The best way to fight rust is to prevent it before it even starts.

Rust is made up of hydrated iron oxides and iron oxide-hydroxide. Over the course of time,  along with oxygen, and water, any iron mass will transform into rust and then eventually turn to virtually dust.

How does rust get its start? Rust is a general term for describing iron oxides. It describes red oxides that are formed by the combination of iron and oxygen, and water or air moisture. Other forms of rust include the reaction of iron and chloride in the absence of oxygen. this is seen, for example, in rebar used in underwater concrete pillars. This form of rust is usually green.

The problem with rust is that it affects many things that we possess.

Cars are effected by rust, especially in the winter, when they drive through snow and salt. If a car sits in a garage, over time can develop rust. Many people, especially those who collect cars, buy an outdoor car cover to protect a car that may sit in the driveway all year. These covers put off a vapor that prevents the car from rust.

There is also a bicycle cover and  motorcycle cover with the same technology to protect these items from rust. Used correctly, these covers can and will protect your car, bicycle, ATV, motorcycle and even your boat.

Trayvon Martin Case: Things Are Not Always As They Seem

For a time, the Trayvon Martin case has been moved to the back burner. The John Edwards sex scandal, and the Presidential race to the White House has stepped up to be the flavor of the week. The Trayvon case will re-emerge, and when it does, you can be sure the firestorm will ignite once again.

The case has sparked racial tensions, mostly brought on by the media’s overzealous intention to make the case about race, and to fuel this country’s memory, and one-time acceptance of slavery. Anytime they have the chance, the media will almost always jump the gun, and rush to some scenario or conclusion about an incident. There are things that appeared to resonate if you take a close look at the situation.

When the case first came to light, there was this idea, brought on by the media, that George Zimmerman was a gun-toting vigilante, that hunted down young black men and shot and killed them. He did all of this because he was a racist, of course. According to the Trayvon supporters, George Zimmerman spotted, pursued, confronted and killed Trayvon, because Zimmerman was a racist. Some would even say, that Zimmerman got out of his car with the intention to kill Trayvon. The only problem is – things are not always as they appear.

What was not known at the time, is that George Zimmerman came from a military and judicial family. He had a best friend, a black man, who he would eventually start a business with. He bought the gun to protect himself and his wife from a dog that nearly attacked his wife some months earlier. In the months leading up to this incident, Zimmerman stopped a robbery in progress in his neighborhood. He also had property stolen from his very own porch.

The neighborhood in which Zimmerman lived experienced eight break-ins in 14 months. Many of Zimmerman’s neighbors were asking for help, specifically asking Zimmerman for help. They asked him to be the captain of the neighborhood watch. All of the people that Zimmerman and his neighbors had seen peering into windows and breaking into homes were black.

This information was never told to the public, and only came out later. This information is crucial because it lays the foundation of what was going on in the neighborhood and what was going on in George Zimmerman’s mind in the days leading up to this incident. The people who sided with Trayvon and against Zimmerman, never heard this information until their mind was already made up.

Trayvon Martin Case: Things Are Never That Easy

Now that the Trayvon Martin case has calmed down for a bit, we have all had time to reflect on the facts and events of the case. When it is all said and done, this incident was a tragedy. Although, it may have been avoided, once the confrontation started, there was no preventing what happened in the end.

When the case first came to light, there was this idea, brought on by the media, that George Zimmerman had a gun on him, he     was a 28 year old man, Trayvon was only 17 – it had to be Zimmerman’s fault. Why was was Trayvon looking suspicious? Why did Zimmerman care? Who confronted who? Whose voice is on the tape crying out for help?

There are questions we simply have no answers to right now. Hopefully we one day will. For now, the thing that this case teeters on is what happened when Trayvon and Zimmerman confronted each other.

From some recent reports, Zimmerman’s head was bloody. He had two gashes on the top center part of the back of his head. That would seem to support the defenses claim that Trayvon knocked Zimmerman down, and slammed his head into the concrete at least twice. To get those gashes, Zimmerman had to be on his back. This would also make it likely that it was Zimmerman who was crying out for help on the 911 call. Other reports also support the defense, in that they claim Trayvon Martin reached for the gun.

The “stand your ground” law in Florida states that if you are threatened with death or serious bodily harm, you have the right to defend yourself with deadly force without the obligation to flee the scene first.

It’s going to be an uphill battle for the prosecution for sure. They seem to have no real evidence that goes against George Zimmerman’s side of the story. And unfortunately, the defense’s client is gone.

Trayvon Martin Case: Things Are Not Always As They Appear

Much of the news coverage has switched from the Trayvon Martin case back over to politics. News has a way of doing that sometimes, But the fact of the matter is, the case is still out there. It may not go to trial, or it may; but it will eventually move forward. People seem split down the middle on their views of what happened.

The case has sparked racial tensions, mostly brought on by the media’s overzealous and inaccurate depiction of photos, events and context. There are things that appeared to resonate if you take a close look at the situation.

When the case first came to light, there were pictures splashed all over the news and media outlets. One was of a very young, and small black boy. The other, a seemingly large Hispanic man. When people found out that the big man had killed the little boy, most were outraged. The only problem is – things are not always as they appear.

What was not known at the time, is that Trayvon Martin’s picture was 4 or 5 years old. He was not a little pee wee football player, but rather a six foot high school-er, who played football and lifted weights. George Zimmerman’s picture was deceiving as well. Zimmerman, who had recently lost as much as 50 pounds, seemed like a totally different person. He was around 5′ 6″ and had a slight build.

These are the pictures that first hit our televisions when the case became national news. These pictures would lead people to form opinions and theories about what happened. The people who sided with Trayvon and against Zimmerman, did so based on a false reality.

If the pictures never surfaced, would people’s opinions be any different? If all we saw were the more up to date and accurate pictures, depicting those involved with this case, would there be such an outcry? We may never know.

More Remodeling Less Building

Although most of the economic news is bleak, many people still own homes and have lasted through the worst of the economy. Now they are looking down the road. Home remodeling has been in a lull for the past couple of years. Mostly due to the fact that many people did not know whether they could sell their homes, and trying to decide if they wanted to stay in them. The prediction for the year 2012, as a whole, is home remodeling in will increase almost 6%.

The reasons for the increase are speculative, but include people that want to make their homes more enjoyable after deciding to stay in them, and those that have the money now to increase the home’s value for the future.

Many industries will benefit from the home improvement increase. Big box stores like Lowe’s and Home Depot will for sure see increased sales and even credit lines.

Some of the remodeling that is expected to occur is in bathrooms and kitchens. Those usually get the first look. Although, many people have already been down that road, and are looking to do more major work like re-roofing, or new windows and siding.

Roofers should keep busy this spring as remodeling increases. One of the best investments you can make to a house is to re-roof. It can be an expensive decision, but the potential buyer will be glad you did.

Siding is another market that should see a significant increase, as homeowners attempt to make their house look good for a potential buyer.

With the new technology in windows, many people are turning to residential glass that is more suited to different climates. The new glass adds value to the house, and is a cost savings as well. Speaking of glass, many builders will turn to architectural glass that is more green in order to fall in line with today’s demands to protect the environment.

Glass Interiors Add A Whole New Dimension

Take away all of the mirrors and exterior windows of a home or office and where do you find glass? Ten or twenty years ago, the answer would have been “no where”. Now, you see glass in many new and amazing places.

Glass has taken on a whole new role. We are all familiar with the main uses for glass. Things like windows, mirrors and drinking glasses all seem normal to us. But glass is going where it has never gone before. The technology is changing to enable glass to become an key component in the building and design world.

Acid-etched glass can provide privacy in a partition or shower, but still allow light to pass through. And laminated safety glass can be used in interior or exterior doors for security, or floors or stairways to add an incredible look and feel to an office or room.

Interior glass has become almost a phenomenon in the design world. Glass can be made to fulfill many applications. Painted glass can add design and color to a room as walls or partitions, while scratch-resistant glass is perfect for table tops or high traffic areas.

The way glass manufacturing has evolved combined with ingenious design can produce never-ending options for the use of interior glass. Glass has increased its value over the years, as it is used as an exterior barrier, an interior facilitator, and now a visual exclamation.
